Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to create the third annual list of America’s Best Employers By State. Lenoir County Public Schools ranked 55 on the list for North Carolina.

“I'm not surprised that Lenoir County Public School employees like where they work,” said Patrick Holmes, Public Information Officer for Lenoir County Public Schools. “Superintendent Brent Williams has led the creation of a workplace culture that puts a premium on communication, on sharing ideas and the kind of teamwork that has allowed LCPS to improve year after year.”

Statista asked 80,000 people working for businesses with at least 500 people. The surveys were anonymous and allowed participants to share their opinions.

“I am pleasantly surprised, however, that responses by our employees to the Forbes survey placed LCPS among some very well-known employers in North Carolina -- as one of only four public school systems on the list and the smallest entity, in terms of number of employees, in the top 100,” said Holmes.

Statista conducted the surveys from October 2020 through July 2021 and were anonymous.

“That level of employee satisfaction is probably something we could intuit from data on hand -- our relatively low teacher turnover rate or the high number of experienced teachers, for example -- but having the people who are engaged every day in LCPS's pursuit of excellence, people who are working very, very hard in difficult circumstances, say they are glad to be here is incredibly gratifying,” said Holmes.

Other employers in Eastern North Carolina that was listed are East Carolina University and Vidant Health, both in Greenville. Cabarrus County Schools, Cumberland County Schools, Wake County Public School System, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools also made the list for Best Employer in NC.
