TRENTON, N.C., September 26, 2021 –Various federal and state officials joined U.S.  Department of Agriculture North Carolina Rural Development at a fire truck arrival  ceremony at the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department today.

USDA is investing $690 thousand in disaster grants to purchase a new fire truck and  miscellaneous equipment.

“USDA is proud of our ongoing relationship with the Trenton Volunteer Fire  Department,” said Rural Development Acting State Director Mell Ellis. “Our continued  investment into this fire department helps strengthen this rural community.”

This investment will include the purchase of new radios, pagers, ladders, lights, and a  variety of other miscellaneous equipment.

Providing a new truck and essential equipment will be more cost efficient for the  department and will ensure the equipment being used is safe and reliable.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic  opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure  improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools,  public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
