“I’ve got some big shoes to fill from Mayor Sykes,” said Mayor Mike Hill. “She was a cheerleader for Pink Hill. She tried to get things down for the town and sometimes that was hard to do. I will continue to try to get jobs and businesses to come to Pink Hill.”

Pete Fantini was elected and sworn in as a town commissioner in the seat formerly held by Mike Hill.

“Over those years I learned many things but the most important one is to take care of those around you,” said Commissioner Pete Fantini.

Fantini will complete Hill's term and run in the November election.

“We do love this town and want to see its future prosper with community involvement and businesses expansion. I have been of service to the people almost my entire life and enjoy assisting others.”

Commissioner Penny Murphy was elected as the new Mayor Pro Tem. Pink Hill also welcomed John Weaver as a new full-time police officer.

Mayor Carol S. Sykes passed away in August after serving the town of Pink Hill for nearly 50 years as the town’s clerk, commissioner, and mayor. According to her obituary, Sykes was “Pink Hill’s biggest advocate and loudest cheerleader. People may have disagreed with some of her decisions, but no one can argue that she did what she thought was best for the citizens of Pink Hill.”
