UPDATE: Kinston Police: Officers still searching for witnesses in hit and run case

UPDATE:

On 01/15/2022 at 2:06 a.m., Kinston Police responded to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle  near the intersection of Dr. MLK J. Blvd. and Thompson St. Kinston, NC. Officers arrived and  found a 32 year old female lying in the roadway unresponsive. Members of the Kinston Police  Department Crime Lab and NC State Highway Patrol responded to assist with the investigation.  

Officers are still searching for additional witnesses and the vehicle that left the scene. Officers  are asking anyone that may have been in the area; know the whereabouts of the vehicle in this  incident or have cameras that capture portions of Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd to please contact the Kinston  Police Department. 

The Kinston Police Department places the highest priority on investigating crimes of violence  perpetrated in our city. We will investigate such cases with no compromise for crime, and  continue to seek assistance from the community we proudly serve. Previous Story:

On Saturday, January 15, 2022, at approximately 2:06 am, officers from the Kinston Police Department responded to Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd., near Thompson Street in reference to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased female in the street.

The vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene and is unknown at this time. This case is currently under investigation. If anyone has information regarding this incident, you are encouraged to call the KPD tips line at 252-939-4020 or to Lenoir CountyCrime Stoppers at 252-523-4444
