Lenoir County Emergency Services (LCES) has implemented its Severe Winter Weather Operations Plan.

On Wednesday, LCES personnel completed operational checks on generators located at each EMS station and the Emergency Communication Center. Lenoir County EMS will be placing an additional EMS unit and Quick Response Vehicle in service at 7 a.m. Friday, both of which will operate through at least mid-day Saturday. An additional telecommunicator will also begin staffing each shift at that time.

In the anticipation of increased EMS requests for service, a paramedic will also be assigned to the E911 center to provide an additional layer of patient triage.

"Driving conditions are expected to become hazardous as the day progresses tomorrow, therefore, for the safety of all emergency responders and law enforcement, we ask that residents utilize 911 for emergencies only," LCES Director Murry Stroud said.

We will be providing information on how to access local telehealth resources later today.
