Alien Fizz's New Storefront Lands in Kinston

Alien Fizz is a small, family-owned shop bringing smiles and old-fashioned service with their out-of-this-world craft sodas, sweets, and novelties. The shop is owned and operated by Harry and Sarah Mahler, who originally operated a soda store called Soda Depot in Pennsylvania.

One of the owners, Harry Mahler, said as a reason for opening a store in Kinston, “Essentially because of the Soda Depot, when we moved to North Carolina, we wanted to do something locally and in the community of downtown Kinston.”

The new business is located in the heart of downtown Kinston on Herritage Street.

Mahler also mentioned, “The business of Alien Fizz has been a three-year project with a lot of research, a lot of trial and error, but the key was to create something fun and old-fashion.”

Besides old-fashion soda, the store will carry old-school and new candy from all over the United States.

The atmosphere of the store is meant to bring back memories. Mahler said, “We are hoping to bring back the idea of the old school penny candy experience, especially downtown where there are not a lot of kid-geared stores.”

Their operating hours will tentatively be Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. They will vary based on the season.

You can find out more about their soda and the business on their website https://alienfizz.com/ or visit them in person at 204 N Herritage St in Kinston.
