KINSTON — A woman is facing multiple charges from the State Highway Patrol and the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office after leading troopers and deputies in a Friday afternoon car chase, colliding into an LCSO patrol car and having drugs and stolen clothing in her vehicle.

On Friday around 4 p.m., the LCSO assisted the Highway Patrol in a chase of a vehicle being driven by Elizabeth Marie Tucker that began on U.S. 258 North in Lenoir County and continued to C.F. Harvey Parkway (N.C. 148). LCSO deputies employed stop sticks, which caused Tucker’s front tires to lose air.

Tucker’s vehicle slowed to approximately 10 mph, enabling deputies and troopers to box the vehicle in. At that point, Tucker’s vehicle collided with an LCSO patrol car, causing minor damage. After the vehicle stopped, she was taken into custody without further incident.

Deputies searched her vehicle and located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and stolen clothing. The SHP seized the vehicle.

The State Highway Patrol charged Tucker with:

• felony fleeing to elude

• reckless driving

• speeding 68 in a 45

• failure to heed light/siren

• driving while impaired

She received a $5,000 secured bond for those charges

The LCSO charged Tucker with:

• felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance

• possession of drug paraphernalia

• misdemeanor possession of stolen goods

• possession of a controlled substance on jail premises

She received an $8,000 secured bond for those charges.

The LCSO is continuing to investigate the incident.
