Obituary: Robert (Bobby) Allen Groff
Robert Allen Groff (Bobby), 69, of Pink Hill, went to be with his Lord and Savior on 2/24/22, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1952, he is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Evelyn Groff.
Bobby served in the United States Navy and was an Army National Guard member for several years. After discharge from the Navy, he married the love of his life, Linda, in 1976 and began his career as a painting and wallpapering contractor. He served as president of East Carolina Wallpaper Market, his family’s business, for 17 years, and then returned to making homes in Kinston and surrounding areas beautiful.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Linda; sons Tony Groff (Cassie), Jason Groff (Amy Taylor), and daughter Melanie Brooke Groff Stroud (Thurman). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Hunter Groff, Kayla Groff, Logen Rogers, Luke Rogers, Alex Groff, Andrew Groff, his “BB” Alaina Brooke Stroud; great-granddaughter Caroline Grace Groff; sister Cindy Beverage Gaskins, and special friends Mike Haddock and Joey and Jesse Thigpen.
Bobby loved spending time with his family and enjoyed trout fishing with his sons and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and honed this craft to make several cherished heirlooms for family and friends over the years.
Graveside services will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park on 3/1/22 at 11am. Howard-Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
