Obituary: Janet Westbrook Frantz

Janet Westbrook Frantz January 8, 1933 – March 6, 2022 La Grange- Janet Westbrook Frantz, 89, fell asleep on this earth to awaken in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

Janet was born in Lenoir County to the late Dr. J.T. and Minnie LeNeave Westbrook on January 8, 1933. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Frantz, Jr. Janet spent her career as a nurse caring for patients in nursing homes, Caswell Center, and Lenoir Memorial Hospital before retiring to care for her own husband in his final years. Her compassion for others was great and her spirit was both genuine and generous. Known to be an excellent cook, Janet never let you leave her home without enjoying something to eat. Every detail inside of her home was immaculate, as she believed in a well-kept home and the motto, “cleanliness is next to Godliness”.

Always rejoicing in the beauty of God’s creation, Janet enjoyed time outdoors watching birds or working in her yard. For many years, she maintained her own yard from weeding and pruning to flying around her yard on the lawn mower. Once her family convinced her that it was time to let someone else tend to the yard, she would still sneak out to trim her hedges just right, or at least offer her expertise to the workers on how it should be done. Wanting everything to be just right, Janet was a perfectionist when it came to her home, her yard, and her appearance.

First thing each morning, makeup was applied, and her hair was checked to ensure each strand was perfectly placed. Her polished appearance was a great representation of the contentment she found in organization and cleanliness. Possessing a deep faith, Janet was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro. Her love for the Lord was a common point of conversation as Janet shared life with her family. Aware of the gift of love received through Christ Jesus, Janet went on to share that love with others through constant prayer and words of encouragement. A service to celebrate and remember Janet’s life will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Lenny Waters officiating. Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 1:00 – 1:45 prior to the service at Rouse Funeral Home.
