Suspect charged with July 2021 homicide in Deep Run

Lenoir County Sheriff’s office posted the following on their Facebook page:

On July 9, 2021, at 2:40 a.m., the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office responded to 1847 Will Cunningham Road in Deep Run, NC in regards to a shooting incident. Deputies arrived and found the victim deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 75-year-old Daniel Moore Sr. who lived at this address.

Sheriff Ronnie Ingram stated, "since this investigation began, our detectives, deputies and crime scene technicians have worked every angle and lead to try and identify the suspect who committed this murder. I am proud to say that all of their hard work paid off."

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division, who worked jointly with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office has identified and charged one suspect with this crime. Information gathered from a Harnett County crime and evidence from both scenes led to the identification of Isaiah Mckoy as a suspect for the Deep Run Murder.

19 year old Isaiah McKoy of Holly Springs, NC has been arrested and charged with the an open count of murder. During the investigation, investigators found evidence that Mckoy, who is the great grandson of the victim, shot the victim and killed him in Deep Run on July 9, 2021. The motive is still under investigation.

Sheriff Ingram added, "I offer my condolenses to the family for the loss of Mr. Moore and hope that this arrest will help bring some closure to this chapter in their lives."

Isaiah Mckoy has no bond for this Lenoir County Charge. Mckoy remains in custody of Harnett County Detention Center where he was being held for additional charges including attempted First Degree Murder (2 counts), Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury (2 counts), discharge Weapon into occupied property causing serious bodily injury (2 counts) and discharge Firearm in enclosure (2 counts)
