Electrolux donates $100,000 of AC units to the community
July 19, 2022, Electrolux hosted a donation event in partnership with United Way to distribute $100,000 worth of air conditioning (AC) units to the community.
Molly Taylor, the Executive director of Lenoir and Green county United Way said, “We are partnering with Electrolux to distribute air conditioning units to our community we are supporting our local nonprofits who are helping families that they work with have AC in their homes so we’re really excited to have this opportunity to work again with Electrolux.”
Taylor hopes to distribute all the AC units donated to homes in need to get through the summer heat.
“We are hoping to make sure we get all these AC units out and into many homes as possible because it is very hot, and we know a lot of people could really use this service.” Said Taylor. “we’re so grateful to Electrolux and their donation to our community is a $100,000 donation to our community.”
Taylor explains how homes are chosen through direct relationships between local non-profit organizations and individuals of the community who are in need.
“What we are doing is distributing them through our local nonprofits who we partner with at United Way along with other nonprofits in our community because they have the direct relationship with individuals who might have a need in our community,” said Taylor. “There are certain qualifications, so they are vetting the actual AC units and making sure they’re going to homes that truly need them.”
Jeff Britt, the plant manager of Electrolux, shares his excitement not only in giving to the community but also for the employees to work as a team.
“We wanted take the opportunity to share with our community through United Way, also build team ship through our teams that work here in the Kinston factory and help make living for the better not only for our employees and our customers but for our community.” Said Britt.
Britt expresses his care for the community and hopes to show that Electrolux is devoted to their customers and employees.
“Electrolux is more than just an appliance manufacturer,” said Britt. “We care about our employees; we care about the people that are consumers and we want them to not only have the best of the appliances that they can buy but we want them to enjoy that consumer experience. See how the dishwasher works and how their appliances work so they can tell a friend and when they need another appliance, they select Electrolux appliance.”
At the Electrolux headquarters in Charlotte, they donated $200,000 worth of AC units to the Crisis Assistance Ministry to distribute to households in the community, totaling to a $300,000 overall donation.
