Help Wanted: Lenoir County Landfill=Solid Waster - Heavy Equipment Operator

SALARY RANGE: $29,785 - $45,322

Description of work:

The position is responsible for operating heavy equipment in support of the county’s solid waste management operations.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Thorough knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance principles. Skill in the operation of a variety of heavy equipment; including bulldozer, backhoe, compactor and excavator, etc.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and performing, repetitive motions. Must be able to perform exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The employee is subject to working in outside environments, extreme temperatures and weather.

Minimum training and experience requirements:

Graduation from High School. Experience in heavy equipment operation. A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required. This position is subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Transportation Administration guidelines and local LCT policy.
