Neuse Regional Libraries has taken pride over the years in offering avenues for personal and professional growth, including our ongoing collaboration with Lenoir Community College to provide our twice-weekly Career Ready Lab at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library (KLCPL). In October the Library will be placing a special focus on career development as our annual Fall Into Your Future Job Fair returns on Saturday, October 1 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. which will be held in the KLCPL’s Schecter Auditorium.

This Fall Into Your Future Job Fair  is a three-way partnership between our library, the NC Works Career Center of Kinston and the Lenoir Community College Workforce Development Program. Just like last year, we will bring together all of the biggest employers that are currently hiring in Lenoir County under one roof.   This will be an opportunity for adults eighteen years of age and older who are currently seeking employment to meet with many of our local region’s business organizations in a relaxed and conversational environment. This will also be an opportunity for young professionals to network with a variety of local business entities as well as City of Kinston officials. This event is free to the public, and you do not need to register to attend.  Some businesses that plan to attend include Mega Force Staffing, MasterBrand Cabinets, Crown Equipment Corporation, just to name a few.

The Library will also be offering a two-part workshop on perfecting your Interview Skills! We will offer our first session on Saturday, October 15 at 3:00 p.m., and our second on Tuesday, October 25 at 5:30 p.m.. Our first workshop date is entitled “How to Prepare for Your Interview”, where we will share tips and tricks on how you can look, speak and sell yourself well in any formal interview. Our second workshop date is entitled “Mock Interview Practice”; our Head of Information Services Justin Stout and I will lead our guests through rounds of practice sessions to help job applicants become more comfortable with being put on the spot and answering questions. This event, much like the Job Fair, is free to the public but you must register to attend. Call the Information Services desk at 252.527.7066 ext. 134 to register for a seat.

We would like to thank Jamie Wallace from the NC Works Career Center of Wayne County and Josephine Wallace-Koonce, the Lenoir Community College’s NC Works Career Center Manager, for their tremendous efforts in helping us make this Job Fair possible once again. If you would like to receive more information regarding our upcoming Job Fair, contact me by phone at (252) 527-7066 ext. 140 with any questions.
