Charlotte Baker was a lifetime Duplin County resident and Pink Hill business owner who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2018 and succumbed to the disease in 2021 after a valiant battle. Charlotte was known for having a big heart and helping her community. In her memory, a group of family and friends established The Charlotte Baker Memorial Fund, to honor her and bring awareness to the disease. It is our mission to help patients and their families through funds generated by fundraisers and donations from our community. 

We are hosting a BBQ Cook Off on Friday, October 14th and a co-ed softball tournament on Saturday, October 15th. During our softball event, we are also going to be selling BBQ plates for $10 each. Starting at 11 am, BBQ plate purchase and pick up is available at the Albertson Ball Field, 728 Seth Turner Rd. Albertson, NC. In addition, we are also selling half and half tickets for the fundraising event, and the drawing will take place live at Two Dogs Pizza in Pink Hill on October 17th, at 7:00 pm. All proceeds will go to The Charlotte Baker Memorial Fund to allow us to help fund patients who are also adjusting to life with ALS and the many challenges that it presents.
