Greene County Schools names Principal of the year
Snow Hill - Mr. Taylor Moore at Greene Early College has been selected as the Greene County Principal of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year.
Two years ago, Mr. Moore was named the Assistant Principal of the Year when he was serving as the AP at Greene County Intermediate School. Mr. Moore is a native of Caldwell County in the Western part of NC. He has lived in Eastern NC since 2008 with Greene County being his primary residence since 2012. He and his wife Sarabeth are both proud Greene County Schools employees. Sara Beth works as a Math Interventionist at West Greene Elementary.
According to Astid Nava, District Communications Coordinator, “Mr. Moore is starting his second school year as principal at Greene Early College but has held an administrative position since November 2015, when he began as assistant principal at Greene County Intermediate School. Over the years, Mr. Moore has done a remarkable job as an administrator. The atmosphere of his school is evidence of the continual work he puts in as aleader in cultivating a positive learning environment.
Cathy Williams, Accountability Director for Greene County Schools and a member of the interviewing team for Principal of the Year shared “As an instructional leader, Taylor Moore pays particular attention to the culture of his school. He is reflective in his practice and works to form bonds with his students and staff. Mr. Moore is a respected member of our school community who empowers others to make an impact on our community. He is an excellent choice for Greene County's Principal of the Year.”
Mr. Moore attended East Carolina University receiving his BS in History Education East Carolina University and later a Master of School Administration. Mr. Moore was named Principal of Greene Early College in the summer of 2021 following the promotion of then-long-time principal Dr. Rodney McNeil to the position of Director of Human Capital.
With all Mr. Moore has accomplished and the experience he has gained, he will now go on to construct a portfolio. This portfolio will be taken into consideration when the next Southeast Regional Principal of the Year is awarded.
