LCC One Step Closer to 2024 Reaffirmation of Accreditation
Lenoir Community College is one step closer to 2024 reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as the visiting on-site 11-member team completed its review with zero recommendations, which is rarely achievable.
The on-site visit is the second part of a three-part journey towards reaffirmation with the final step being approval by the full SACSCOC Board in June 2024. In the first part of the process, institutions are required to document compliance with the commission’s standards of accreditation.
“The process started three years ago when the College decided on what its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) would be,” said LCC President Dr. Rusty Hunt. “Saying I am proud of our faculty and staff is an understatement. Everyone had an integral part in this process. Our commitment to our students and their success was evident to our peer evaluators. We are constantly looking for ways to support those we serve, and this review makes us accountable. This process of improvement is continuous, and our team is dedicated to providing the best.”
“I am so proud of the work done by our entire team, including our SACSCOC Executive Team, QEP Committees, faculty, and staff,” said LCC Vice President of Instruction and Institutional Effectiveness Dr. Timothy Maddox-Fisher. “Seeking reaffirmation of accreditation can be a daunting task, but we truly have the best people who came together to ensure a successful on-site visit with zero recommendations – a rare occurrence for most. I could not be more proud.”
The College’s QEP, titled “All Aboard! Destination: Success,” aims to increase fall-to-fall retention by implementing an enhanced student onboarding experience. “LCC’s QEP is a testament to our institution’s commitment to student success,” said LCC Director of Innovation and Effectiveness/QEP Director Nikki Proctor. “Acceptance of our QEP with no recommendations is a tremendous accomplishment and the product of years of collaboration, assessment, and research led by our QEP Committees.”
