The Barrister: More Than a Pub – A Vision of Community
In a strategic move to revitalize South Queen Street in Kinston, a new establishment named The Barrister Irish Pub opened its doors on October 28th. Situated at 209 S. Queen Street, The Barrister is more than just a pub; it represents a vision of community, diversity, and local development.
Owned by Danny Williamson and his partners, The Barrister is dedicated to reshaping and enriching the local landscape. The vision for The Barrister goes beyond mere business. It's a symbol of unity and inclusivity in a region often characterized by historical divisions.
Williamson explains, 'We, you know, obviously we looked at it from an investment standpoint, but we wanted to create a space that was our own. We wanted to make it a place where friendship and community prevailed, regardless of where you came from or what you looked like.'
While the pub has an Irish theme, the partners emphasize that it's open to all members of the community, regardless of their background. Williams acknowledges, 'It's not just for people who look like us. It's a place the entire community is welcome.'
Williamson and his partners believe that investing in South Queen Street is a way to encourage growth and opportunity in the region. They are willing to share their experiences and insights with others interested in contributing to the development of the area.
“We want people from the talent pool and the entrepreneurial potential here to start these places,” Williamson emphasizes. The partners are eager to provide guidance and advice to those willing to invest in the community's future.
The Barrister aims to be a community hub, open most days of the week. The partners plan to engage with patrons to determine the best operating hours that suit the community's needs. Their goal is to offer a welcoming space where people can come together, enjoy the atmosphere, and build connections.
