On Friday, November 3, 2023, at approximately 2:40 a.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to the area of E. Shine St. and East St. in reference to a report of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers met with Antwan Garner, 35, of Kinston, who was suffering from an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators responded to the scene, and at this time, the identity of the assailant(s) is unknown. Garner was transported to ECU Health Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
