Danny Rice honored with Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award

At the Lenoir County Board of Commissioners meeting on November 20, 2023, Danny Rice received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Governor of North Carolina. Established in 1963, this honor is set aside for those who have exhibited exceptional dedication and outstanding achievements in their service to the state and local communities.

β€œIt means so much to be a part of such a distinguished group of people who have recognized for their service, who like me are proud to call North Carolina home,” said Rice.

Throughout his career, Rice has dedicated time to numerous community service initiatives, including his role as Board Chair for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Board member for the Community Council for the Arts, and Co-Chairperson of Crimestoppers for Kinston-Lenoir County.

β€œI am very appreciative to be nominated by mentors who have inspired me over the years,” said Rice. Current and former city and county leaders sent letters of recommendation for Rice to receive the award.

In addition to the Long Leaf Pine Award, Rice has received accolades from East Carolina University, WoodmenLife, Boy Scouts of America, Lions Club International, Rotary Club, and the State of North Carolina, among others. His awards range from Outstanding Field Instructor to the Governor's Award for Excellence in Volunteer Service.

Danny Rice's induction into The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is a testament to a lifetime of dedicated service, community leadership, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the community.
