Obituary: Richard Wolfgang Kordulewski, Sr.

Richard Wolfgang Kordulewski, Sr., 75, passed away in his home on November 5, 2023.

The family welcomes visitors to celebrate Richard's life on Saturday, November 11th, at 1pm at Mother Earth Brewery, 311 N. Herritage St., Kinston.

Richard was born in Munich, Germany, and came to the U.S. with his mother as an infant in 1949. He grew up in Kinston and in 1966 he graduated from Grainger High School. Richard was an Army Veteran, having served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He lived most of his life on the Crystal Coast, where he loved spending time on the water and fishing. Richard was an avid motor enthusiast and a mechanical genius. He spent much of his youth at the drag strip in Kinston, and he enjoyed collecting American muscle cars throughout his life. Richard had a kind and generous heart, and he loved the Lord. He was an incredible storyteller, recalling chapters from his many adventures on land and sea. His family and friends will cherish the memories of his never-ending sense of humor.

Richard is survived by his three children, Ric Wolfgang Kordulewski, Jr. (Margot) of Ayden, Sarah Kordulewski-Chavez (Fernando) of Raleigh, and Laura Kordulewski Abadom (Rabe) of Raleigh, and his four grandsons, Atticus, Adam, Fernando, and Mateo.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Marianna Kordulewski, and father, Erwin Hans.
