Pink Hill's Mayor-Elect Mike Horne outlines vision for the town's future

Now that the 2023 municipal election has ended, Mayor-Elect Mike Horne is ready to deliver on the platforms he campaigned on.

Horne emphasized the need for a meeting with the commissioners to get up to speed on ongoing matters and discuss the town's future trajectory. He plans to advertise for open positions and highlighted the interest already expressed by individuals keen on contributing to Pink Hill's development.

“I’m thankful for all of the voters in Pink Hill,” said Horne. “We had one of the biggest turnouts that I can remember.”

Addressing Pink Hill's strengths, Horne underscored the sense of community as a significant asset.

“Our community really is our strength,” said Horne.

Reflecting on his own experience growing up in Pink Hill and raising his family there, he expressed a desire to maintain the town's traditions. Economic growth, attracting investments, and revitalizing aspects like local restaurants were also key points of discussion.

“Pink Hill is a wonderful place to grow up in,” said Horne. “I grew up here, my children grew up here, and now my grandchildren are growing up here.”

Horne recognized weaknesses such as the absence of industries that could support local businesses. He envisioned Pink Hill as an attractive location for those seeking to escape urban hustle while remaining close to larger cities. The mayor-elect stressed the importance of reviewing existing regulations to facilitate economic growth and development.

“There's just so many things to offer,” said Horne of Pink Hill. “We want to make it even better. We lost several things over the years, like our bank. We want to look at businesses that would be willing to come to our small town.”

Horne is ready to leave the disfunction of last year in the past. He’s already met with local and state leaders to lay the groundwork for working relationships in the future. While the commissioner race in Pink Hill has not yet been officially called, Horne is ready to assume the mayoral seat in December.
