Help wanted: Lenoir County Health Department - Public Health Educator

LENOIR COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATOR I - Salary Range: $38,379.69 - $58,399.24

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To assist Lenoir County Public Health to focus on systems-level change to create health care systems, communities, work places and schools that are supportive of health equity, COVID prevention and response, smoking cessation, increased physical activity, and improve diets to reduce morbidity and mortality. Other responsibilities include health education within the community and for Health Department Programs and assisting with Preparedness and Accreditation.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: General knowledge of the functions of community health agencies. General knowledge of methods and techniques used in preparing and disseminating educational information to the public. General knowledge of the techniques involved in preparing and displaying posters, exhibits, and other educational visual aids. Ability to present ideas effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, community organizations, and the general public. Skill to analyze and collect data, create reports, and communicate information to inform decisions.

TRAINING EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education; or graduation from a four-year college or university and completion of one year of on-the-job training as a public health educator.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: Current valid N.C. driver's license
