Help wanted: UNC Adams School of Dentistry, Pediatric and Public Health - Research Study Coordinator

UNC Adams School of Dentistry, Pediatric and Public Health is looking to hire a research study coordinator for our Kinston office.

This position will serve as Clinical Research Coordinator for the waterBEST study, a 5-year, community-based study evaluating potential dental health benefits of fluoridated bottle water in pre-school children. Duties will be performed at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry Field Center located in Kinston NC. The responsibilities of the position includes but are not limited to study participant recruitment and prescreening, determination of eligibility, and informed consent procedures; collecting fingernail and tap water samples from households; attention to detail in completing case report forms (CRFs)/electronic case report forms (eCRFs); managing collection, compilation, and entry of data into the data management system; documentation of study procedures. The appointee will rigorously and fastidiously implement the study protocol including maintenance of the regulatory binder, managing logistics for study visits, and delivering study interventions including 5-gallon water bottle deliveries. The Clinical Research Coordinator will serve as the primary contact person for study participant’s families. The appointee will meet with the Principal Investigator (PI), Project Manager and other members of the research team at least weekly to monitor study progress and any need for modification. Training to perform study-specific clinical procedures will be provided by the PI, and other members of the research study team. There will be occasional travel to the study’s research offices at UNC Adams School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill NC.

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Ability to develop study protocols and manuals of procedures for the conduct of all aspects of the NIH-approved human subject intervention studies. Knowledge of clinical trials methods, implementation monitoring and reporting. Proven organizational and communication skills. Expertise in designing specifications for data capture systems and relational databases. Proficiency with management of data systems created using relevant software such as Microsoft Access, SQL, REDCap and TeleformPrior,

Completion of NIH-approved training in human subjects protection and good clinical practices or ability to complete such training upon hire.

Ability to lift and move 5-gallon bottles of water with or without accommodations. The use of personal transportation to participants’ homes is required. Steel toed shoes required in warehouse. Evening and weekend work as needed. Patient care involved.
