Juvenile taken into custody in reference to Friday shooting in La Grange

From Lenoir County:

On Monday, Feb. 6, at approximately 9 p.m., members of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, the Kinston Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation apprehended a 17-year-old juvenile at a residence on the 300 Block of College Street in Kinston.

The juvenile is wanted in connection to the shooting of a 20-year-old man which occurred on Cypress Grove Drive in LaGrange on Friday, Feb 3.

The juvenile will be placed in the custody of North Carolina Department of Public Safety in a juvenile detention center while facing the following charges:

* attempted murder

* robbery with a dangerous weapon

* felony conspiracy

* larceny of a firearm

* possession of a stolen firearm.

In addition to his deputies, Sheriff Jackie Rogers would like to thank members of the KPD and the SBI Fugitive & Missing Person Task Force who were pivotal in the investigation and apprehension of this individual.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Kinston Police Department, took a juvenile into custody Monday evening in reference to the shooting in La Grange on Friday. The juvenile was outside near College Street and Atlantic. The SWAT team went to the residence, saw him outside, and took him into custody without incident.

In addition to LCSO and KPD, the SBI Fugitive Task Force also assisted.

“The Kinston Police Department played an instrumental role in taking him into custody,” said Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers. “They developed information they had.”
