Letter to the Editor: Lenoir County citizens deserve dedicated 24/7 animal control officers
To all public safety officers, town and county government employees and elected officials of Lenoir County and Eastern North Carolina:
Enough is enough. Lenoir County citizens deserve dedicated 24/7 animal control officers to protect the public from the wild dogs who terrorize our communities, kill our beloved pets and attack residents landing them in the hospital. Just about every day in La Grange I walk or ride by either a single dog or pack of dogs unleashed running wild and I know people are experiencing this in Kinston and elsewhere in the county. We may be a small rural community but our voices matter and most importantly our safety matters. We pay taxes so where is our protection? It is absolutely pathetic that this is not a priority. What extreme event has to happen before we are taken seriously and this issue is addressed? There are good people in our community who feel the same way and we will continue to keep this issue front and center until something is done.
