Save Lives: American Red Cross Needs Blood Donors Now

Nancy Sauls, the Volunteer Drive Coordinator in La Grange, has a message for the community. The American Red Cross needs your support!

“We have all witnessed the toll chronic illness or a tragic accident has on a person and those who love them,” said Sauls. “There’s no better demonstration than helping to save the lives of those that are depending on our help.”

The American Red Cross needs to maintain an ample blood supply for patients in need. In every community, babies born prematurely, cancer patients and those suffering chronic illness battle for life. A diverse blood supply is important.

“We need donors of all ethnicities as a patient is more likely to find a compatible blood match from a donor of the same race or a similar ethnic group.”

Donors can offer recipients a chance to thrive. For 2023, there are five remaining blood drives at the Community Center in La Grange: March 27, May 22, July 24, September 25, and November 27. The drives typically are afternoon hours from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

“I am encouraging everyone, if you are able, please share the gift of life,” said Sauls. “Help us reach our goal of 30 pints impacting up to 90 lives.”

Donors can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-Red-Cross or visiting www.redcross.org. If further information is needed, email Sauls at nhsauls@gmail.com.
