Greene County Schools Announces Admin Changes
Snow Hill - Greene County Schools announced some administrative changes during their board meeting on February 27. Long time Principal Jada Mumford of Greene County Intermediate School (GCIS) has been named the new Director of Federal Programs. To replace Mumford, the board has announced that Dr. Uvonda Willis, who currently serves as Assistant Principal at Greene Central High School (GCHS), will become the new Principal at GCIS effective April 6, 2023.
Mrs. Willis and her husband Delmus have 3 students all of which attend or attended Greene County Schools. She has been a part of the GCHS family since 2014 but taught and was an administrator prior to that. Mrs. Willis attended the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill receiving her BA in English.
She also earned her Masters of Education in English at UNC- Greensboro, followed by an EdS from Liberty University focused on Supervision and Administration. She recently earned a Doctorate from Liberty University.
In 2021, Dr. Willis was named Secondary Assistant principal of the year. When interviewed about the award by Neuse News, Dr. Willis said her biggest goal was simply that of “being a servant leader.” She believes that “serving others requires you to constantly be intentional in your words, actions and deeds.” She also stressed the importance of being reflective at all times.
Mrs. Mumford has been the principal at GCIS since 2013. She began her time in Greene County during the 2010-2011 school year as a Principal Fellow Intern at Snow Hill Primary. Following that experience she served as an Assistant Principal at Greene Central High School from 2011 -2013 before her move to GCIS.
Mumford will be the Director of Federal Programs and Student Data Systems for Greene County. She shared that “One of my goals in my new position is to support our Title I Schools in their programming and efforts to improve parent involvement. I want to share valuable resources with our parents and find ways to partner with them. “
Both Changes take effect on April 6, 2023.
