A teenager was arrested Tuesday in La Grange after the juvenile was found with a stolen firearm and marijuana.

On Tuesday, detectives with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and the LCSO’s patrol units observed two 17-year-olds near the 300 block of South Wooten street in La Grange. The officers observed one of the juveniles reaching into their waistband; a safety frisk for weapons was conducted on the juvenile, where the juvenile was found in possession of a stolen firearm and approximately 2 grams of marijuana.

Officers seized the firearm; it was later confirmed it had been reported stolen from Kinston. The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to a guardian.

LCSO detectives will be following up with the juvenile justice department in regards to potential charges related to the stolen firearm and marijuana.
