Kinston Police arrest three in major drug bust on West Washington Ave

On Monday, April 3rd, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department’s Violent Criminal Action Team (VCAT) and the U.S. Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms concluded a nearly yearlong drug trafficking investigation. The investigation ended with the execution of an arrest/search warrant on the 1100 block of W. Washington Ave. Kinston, N.C. During the execution of the warrant the target of the investigation, Corey Hyman, 51, of Kinston was taken into custody by detectives for Federal Indictments for Trafficking in Cocaine, stemming from the ongoing investigation. Detectives also located David Bell, 41, of Kinston on the property along with Shammielle Kilpatrick, 32, of Kinston. Bell was subsequently charged with Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine and Marijuana and Kilpatrick was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana. Both Bell and Kilpatrick were placed in the Lenoir County Jail under secured bonds and Hyman was taken into federal custody where he will remain pending further court appearances.
