Operation: Monday Morning Kitten Rescue

See this content in the original post

A kitten found itself trapped beneath a grate covering the Arts Council’s basement windows Monday morning. The Neuse News team tried to coax the kitten out but had no success. Assistance arrived from Kinston Police Department's Animal Control Officer Danny Daughtey and Sergeant Sam McLawhorn, who, alongside another Good Samaritan, managed to lift the hefty grate and free the kitten. The officers took the kitten to the Lenoir County SPCA, for potential adoption.

For information on adopting the kitten contact the Lenoir County SPCA at (252) 520-0003 on Monday and Tuesday from 3 pm-7 pm, and Wednesday through Saturday from 12 pm-4 pm. Applications must be filled out and approved by the SPCA.

There is a 72-hour hold that must be done on the kitten before it is available for adoption. There is a $75 fee for adopting a cat. That fee includes immunization shots and as the kitten is under four months, it will include a voucher to be spayed or neutered.
