Help wanted: Environmental Services Technician - Grounds Coordinator - Lenoir Community College

The Environmental Services Technician - Grounds Coordinator is responsible for over-seeing and performing a variety of semi-skilled landscaping and grounds maintenance duties involved in the maintenance of landscaped areas on campus and operation of grounds maintenance machinery, equipment, and tools.

This position will remain open until filled.

The duties of the Environmental Services Technician - Grounds Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

Supervise and train assigned staff

Coordinate, plan, and assist with various landscape projects on campus

Participate in a variety of landscape maintenance duties to include watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, and fertilizing lawns

Maintain beds, ditch banks, and wood lines including mulching and weed control

Sweep and/or blow off drive and parking lots; keep catch basins and other drainage features clear of debris

Operate and maintain a variety of grounds maintenance landscaping heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools

Evaluate landscaped areas, equipment, and grounds (e.g. fields, parking areas, etc.) for the purpose of identifying repairs

Calibrate and apply various fertilizers and pesticides related to ornamental plant maintenance, lawn management, and turf grass maintenance

Ensure pesticide usage reports for chemicals applied on campus are completed as required

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications

Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred

Current NC Pesticide License is required or ability to obtain within one year of employment

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to work independently but also be a team player

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Must have a valid NC driver's license

Working Conditions

The job is performed under some temperature extremes

Moderate physical effort requiring long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more

Frequent climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
