Help wanted: Lenoir Community College - Career and College Promise Advisor

The Career and College Promise (CCP) Advisor provides support for high school students, in conjunction with the high school counselors, in an effort to improve student participation and success in the CCP program. This position will serve students at North Lenoir and South Lenoir High Schools.

The duties of the Career and College Promise Advisor include, but are not limited to:

Provide perspective, encouragement, and insight as students set academic and career goals

Provide guidance as students develop success strategies to overcome academic difficulties, setbacks, and barriers

Assist students individually and in small groups

Assist students with establishing an academic plan within CCP

Advise students within the CCP program as well as perspective students

Serve as a liaison between high schools and college

Collaborate with Career Coach and GEAR UP Success Coach to assist students with career exploration and transition to college

Collaborate with the Director of Student Success & Equity (Dual Enrollment) to organize and provide information sessions about CCP

Collaborate with the Director of Student Success & Equity (Dual Enrollment) to provide orientation to CCP student and parents

Track quantitative and qualitative data and report student performance

Participate in professional development with the high school counselors

Collaborate with Secondary Education Coordinator (LCPS)

Maintain excellent records/documentation

On campus duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required

3 years of advising experience is preferred

Experience with Career and College Promise is preferred

Ability to build rapport and work well with students

Proficient in Microsoft Office software and the use of a variety of office equipment to include fax machine, photocopier, scanner, and telephone systems

Excellent typing, customer service, communications, and problem-solving skills

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Strong critical thinking skills

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
