Jean J. Jones, age 90, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at her home. She was born November 16, 1932, the oldest daughter of the late, Rudolph and Hazel L. Jones.

A life-long resident of Greene County, she held several roles, including work at J.P. Stevens, B&J Associates, manager of the NC License Plate Agency, and Snow Hill Service Center; but her favorite role was homemaker. She was a member of Grimsley Original Free Will Baptist Church and lived her faith through her actions in daily life. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Willie Ray Jones; her son, David Jones; her son-in-law, Rodney Goodman; and her siblings, Paul Jones, Wilmon Jones, Kenneth Jones, and Peggy Blizzard.

Her surviving family includes her daughter, Cathy Jones Goodman of Kinston; her son, James Alton Jones and wife Mary Jo of Snow Hill; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Jones of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Michael Jones and wife Lindsey of Snow Hill, Laura Blake of Greenville, John Goodman of Kinston, Josh Jones of Snow Hill, and Katie Jones of Greenville; great-grandchildren, Rene Jones, Christian Blake, and Palmer Blake; a sister, Angelia Herring of LaGrange; and many nieces and nephews.

The family thanks her special caregivers and friends, Cheri Wallace, Faye Tyndall, and Brenda Dove, as well as the staff of Pruitt Health Hospice. Due to their compassionate care, Jean was able to spend her final time at home.

Graveside Services will be held 3 PM Sunday, August 13th, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Reverend Alex Ellis officiating. The family will greet friends and extended relatives immediately following the service at the cemetery.
