Help wanted: Lenoir Community College - Accounting Assistant II – Foundation/Special Funds

The Accounting Assistant II - Special Funds/Foundation is responsible for maintaining financial records for the Lenoir Community College Foundation and various College accounts.

The duties of the Accounting Assistant II - Special Funds/Foundation include, but are not limited to:

· Maintain general ledger for Lenoir Community College Foundation; prepare deposits; write checks; post transactions in computerized system

· Perform monthly reconciliations for various grants to ensure accurate reporting; prepare grant reimbursement requests

· Prepare and update financial and statistical reports; gather and organize data used in the preparation of special reports; prepare reports as required

· Prepare billings for various accounts; generate bills for various college contracts; establish accounts as necessary following established policies and procedures

· Reconcile assigned investment and bank accounts on a monthly basis

· Prepare check requests, journal and budget entries as needed

· Maintain accurate files for construction projects; track expenditures and reimbursements; prepare and submit monthly reimbursement requests

· Pursue returned check collections in accordance with state and local policies

· Prepare daily deposit when needed

· Serve as backup cashier as necessary

· Other duties and projects as assigned by Dean of Financial Services and/or Vice President of Administrative Services

Qualifications

· Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field from a regionally accredited institution; bachelor's degree preferred

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

· Excellent typing, public relations, communications and problem-solving skills

· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

· Working knowledge of the Datatel Colleague system preferred

Working Conditions

· Typical office environment

· Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; some standing and walking

· Evening and/or weekend hours as assigned
