Obituary: Lewellyn Davis Bradshaw

Mrs. Lewellyn Davis Bradshaw, best known as “Lew”, passed away Monday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Age 84, she was born July 14, 1939, the daughter of Arthur and Nola Clemmons Davis.

Lew was reared in the Hookerton community of Greene County and graduated from the former Hookerton School. Following marriage to her late husband, James, they made their home in Kinston. Lew possessed an outgoing personality and keen since of independence and those traits served her well in the years she worked with Barrus Construction as a contracts administrator.

Devoted to her family, Lew was dutiful daughter to her late parents, a devoted wife to her late husband, a loving mother to her only child Amy, and an enormously doting grandmother to the apple of her eye, David Wilkerson II.

In addition to her parents, Lew was preceded in death by her husband, James Leslie Bradshaw; brothers, Lin H. Davis Sr, James A. Davis, and Edward David Davis; and a sister, Hilda D. Eubank.

Her surviving family includes her daughter, Amy Bradshaw Wilkerson and husband, David of LaGrange; grandson, David Wilkerson II of LaGrange; sister, Fran D. Allison of Kinston; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held graveside 11 AM Thursday, September 21st, at the Westview Cemetery with Reverend Glenn Hill officiating. The family will greet friends and extended relatives immediately following the service at the cemetery and other times at Mrs. Bradshaw’s residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Lenoir County SPCA, 2455 Rouse Road Ext, Kinston, NC 28504.
