The Gate hosts Fabulous Golden Oldies Dinner Show to honor local heroes and support community youth

On September 9th, 2023, the community will unite to honor two exceptional individuals and support young children in Lenoir County. The event, titled the the “Fabulous Golden Oldies Dinner Show," offers an evening of nostalgia, music, and camaraderie, contributing to a noble cause.

Rick Vernon, Co-chair of The Gate in Kinston, expressed his anticipation for the upcoming event. "I'm enthusiastic about something happening on September 9th that will honor two outstanding people in our community and also support the young children in Kinston and Lenoir County with The Gate.

The Gate will honor Chief Goyette and Jackie Rogers from the Lenoir County Sheriff's Department, acknowledging their contributions and commitment to the community. Donna Hardy, Director of the Gate, highlighted the event's significance. "It's meant to benefit us and bless those around us who support and care for us.”

The Gate, a Community Center, plays a crucial role in serving underprivileged youth in the area. Offering programs for children from kindergarten to age 25, The Gate aims to teach positivity, compassion, and values. "We invest in them every Friday night and throughout the week, teaching them about Jesus, showing them love, and blessing them as they bless us," Hardy shared.

The centerpiece of the event is the "Fabulous Golden Oldies Dinner Show," scheduled to start at 6:00 PM on September 9th. The show showcases music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, performed by The Fabulous Golden Oldies, a group with almost three decades of history. Jane Vernon, part of the program and a member of The Fabulous Golden Oldies, conveyed the group's passion for reviving classic tunes that evoke cherished memories.

"We invite everyone to come and assist us in supporting The Gate and honoring Keith Goyette and Jackie Rogers," encouraged Jane Vernon.

The dinner show guarantees an enjoyable evening with a delicious meal, a captivating program, and the opportunity to witness The Gate's impact firsthand. Young volunteers from The Gate will serve during the event, showcasing the community's dedication to fostering positive change.
