Obituary: Lynn "FBX" Hill, Jr.

Lynn “FBX” Hill, Jr., 53, of Kinston, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sallie Lou Smith Hill. Lynn was a past member of St. Johns #4 Masonic Lodge, Lenoir County Shrine Club and past Captain of the Sudan Motor Patrol. He was an active member of North Lenoir Fire and Rescue and held many positions over his 37 years of service, including Assistant Chief, Battalion Chief, and past President. He loved raising money for volunteer organizations and could even sell ice to an eskimo.

He had a servant’s heart and would give you the shirt off his own back. He loved having a good time with his friends, talking on the phone, and listening to all calls on his fire pager. He loved Duke basketball, football, listening to heavy metal, and golf cart rides with his wife and beloved dog, Decker. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Christi Gates Hill of the home; canine son, Decker; father, Kermit Hill, Sr. of Kinston; brothers, Craig Carlyle and wife, Denise of La Grange and Randy Carlyle and wife, Tonya of Kinston; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, John Tanner, and many other close family members and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Hoover officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
