Maysville, NC – September 24, 2024 – The Town of Maysville is pleased to announce the signing of a $1.3 million contract with S.T. Wooten, a respected construction company, for the most prominent street resurfacing project in the town’s history since the 1960s. The project will resurface 90% of the town’s streets and include widening select roads, enhancing safety and traffic flow. Work is set to begin on October 22, 2024.

This extensive project is being funded by the North Carolina FY 2023 State Budget, with the town receiving strong support from Senator Brent Jackson and Representative Chris Humphries. Both legislators championed Maysville’s infrastructure needs during the budget process, ensuring the town could secure the necessary funding.

In addition, the Maysville Board of Commissioners has committed over $300,000 of town funds to ensure the project is fully completed and meets all necessary standards. This financial commitment demonstrates the Board’s dedication to seeing this vital infrastructure improvement cross the finish line.

“This is a pivotal moment for Maysville,” said Mayor Wayne Sayland. “We couldn’t make these improvements without the help of our state legislators who believed in Maysville and ensured we had the funding to move forward. We are also grateful for the commitment of the Board of Commissioners, whose contribution ensures we can fully deliver on this project.”

Key highlights of the project include:

• Resurfacing 90% of the town’s streets, marking the largest paving initiative in over 60 years.

• Widening select streets to improve safety and better handle increased traffic flow.
