KPD officers from B-Squad responded to a report of three individuals breaking into vehicles on Lincoln Street on October 20, 2024. The caller reported that the suspects had accessed her vehicle and were seen fleeing toward a wooded area behind an apartment complex.

Officers arrived on the scene and successfully apprehended one suspect, later identified as a 15-year-old juvenile, as he attempted to escape into the woods. The juvenile was detained and transported to the Kinston Police Department for further processing.

The other two suspects fled southward into the woods toward the river. The additional suspects were not located.

While investigating the initial breaking and entering incident, officers discovered several additional vehicles that had also been unlawfully accessed.

The detained juvenile has been charged with three counts of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and three counts of Attempting to Break and Enter a Motor Vehicle. Juvenile petitions and a secure custody order were obtained, and the suspect was subsequently transported to the Pitt County Juvenile Detention Center.
