La Grange — Reports of a lockdown at North Lenoir High School on Wednesday morning were dismissed by officials following a fight between students involving scissors broken up by teachers.

Rebecca McGann, Public Information Officer for Lenoir County Public Schools, clarified that there was no lockdown, despite rumors circulating among students. "A fight broke out this morning between a few students where scissors were brandished, but no one was stabbed or injured by them," McGann said. "The Sheriff's office is investigating the incident."

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office confirmed the altercation, with Public Information Officer Bryan Hanks echoing McGann's statement. “Today around 9:15 a.m., an altercation between two students at North Lenoir High School occurred in the cafeteria area of the school. School staff and a school resource deputy were on scene and able to quickly diffuse the situation. No serious injuries occurred during the altercation and both juvenile suspects will be facing criminal charges. The school had minor disruption but has since resumed a normal schedule.," Hanks said.

The incident, which caused concern among students and parents, was actively discussed on social media where it was reported that multiple teachers were stabbed in the attempt to break up the fight. Students reported to their parents that they were unable to leave the classrooms to go to the rest room or leave campus but were not on an “official” lockdown.
