Jones County Community Foundation awards nearly $4,000 in grants

Oct. 8, 2024 – The Jones County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $3,980 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

  • $1,000 to Atlantic Dance Theatre, Inc., for Dance Arts to Build Young Lives in Jones County

  • $500 to Coastal Women’s Shelter, Inc., for New Beginnings Empowerment Program

  • $1,480 to Maysville Methodist Church for Feed my Sheep

  • $1,000 to Voices Together for VOICSS® In Education Jones County Schools

“These organizations make Jones County a better place for everyone,” said Wendy Winslow, advisory board president of the Jones County Community Foundation. “We are honored to be able to support them and grateful to our dedicated supporters who believe in local philanthropy for local good.”

Funds for 2024 grants came from JCCF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, JCCF’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Advisory board members live and work in Jones County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Winslow, board members include Maria Robles (Secretary), Jason Andrews, Eddie Banks, Joanna Carr, Bob Jolly, Charley Jones, Keith Mills, Mimi Roberson, Dan Ryan, Joan Taylor, Gloria Wiggins, and Michael Wilder.
