Help Wanted: Social Worker II – Child Protective Services Intake

As a member of the Department of Social Services with Lenoir County Government, you can make a difference! The Department of Social Services is seeking candidates for a Social Worker II – (Child Protective Services Intake). The position will receive alleged reports of abuse, neglect and/or dependency and assist in screening of alleged CPS reports in determining if such reports fall within the jurisdiction of a CPS investigation/assessment as set forth in GS 7B-101. The worker will also make the appropriate referrals to local law enforcement agencies and district attorney offices as deemed appropriate.

In addition, the worker will refer the reporter to the appropriate community contact agencies as deemed appropriate. As a part of the intake process, the worker will be assessing and determining if the report meets the legal definition of abuse, neglect and/or dependency and if said report warrants an investigation or assessment as well as the initiation time frame. The worker would assist, as needed, at various points of a child welfare case with interviewing, assessing and potentially responding crisis situations. As the Adult Services Intake Social Worker, you will serve as the entry point for the Adult Services Unit. Activities include receiving request for services; exploring with the client such elements as case management and taking referrals for eligibility for Adult Services Programs.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Social Work from

an Accredited School

• Possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License

• Pass a criminal background check

• Must be of Good Moral Character

Salary Range: $52,907 - $59,859
