Obituary: Juanita Rose
January 7, 1937 – December 3, 2024
Nashville, TN-Juanita Rose, 87, reached her heavenly home on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2024. Given the name Beatrice Elizabeth Aldridge at birth, Juanita was born on January 7, 1937 to the late Ernest and Rachel Aldridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Grace Conway, Marvin Aldridge, Helen LaForge, and Roger Aldridge; special friend, Ron Campbell; and the father of her sons, Robert E. Garris.
Starting her career as a country music artist on the local scene, Juanita often appeared on the WITN-TV show hosted by Smiley O’Brien in the late 1950’s. Shortly thereafter, she was discovered by Hank Snow and made her transition to Nashville, Tennessee where she gained notoriety and popularity in the country music family. Throughout her career, she completed many tours and sang often at the Grand Ole Opry, maintaining an active role on the music scene for over sixty years. After Juanita stopped touring, she became a reporter for the Tennessee State senate. Though her touring had stopped, music continued and she released two more Top 10 records just eight years ago.
Greatly loved by her family, she was affectionately known as “Grandma Bea” to her granddaughter. She loved her sons dearly, but there was something extra special about having a granddaughter.
When in the local area, she loved excursions to the beach where she could dine on local, fresh seafood. She also loved collards, and was an exceptional cook in her own right.
Genuine in her words, Juanita was easy to talk to, quick to befriend, and impossible not to love. Possessing a great sense of humor, her personality was large and her will was strong. Ever willing to share her opinion, she was a determined woman who worked hard to hold a successful career, care for her family, and live a fulfilling, happy life.
A service to honor and celebrate Juanita’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Rouse Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
Entombment and committal will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Juanita is survived by her sons, Robert A. Garris and wife, Merle and Earl Garris and special pet, Freddy; granddaughter, Ashley G. Holland and husband, Braxton; great-grandson, Owen C. Holland; and best friend, Josephine Binkley.
