KPD executes narcotics search warrant, seizes drugs and stolen property

On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at approximately 12:24 PM, the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad and Investigators executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence on the 400 block of Taylor Lane in Kinston. The warrant followed an investigation revealing that Benjamin Tyson, 41, of Kinston, was operating a drug distribution operation.

During the search, officers seized various items including drug paraphernalia, U.S. currency, manufacturing equipment, marijuana, and cocaine. Additionally, a stolen John Deere lawn mower was found in the backyard of the property. The mower had previously been reported stolen by Present Truth Ministries in Kinston, NC.

Tyson was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

• Possession with Intent to Sell or Distribute (PWISD) Cocaine

• PWISD Marijuana

• Manufacturing Cocaine

• Felony Possession of Cocaine

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Maintaining a Dwelling for Drug Use

• Possession of Stolen Property

Tyson is currently being held at the Lenoir County Jail without bond.
