Stolen Vehicle Suspect Arrested

On December 20, 2024, at approximately 11:00 PM, Kinston Police Department's B-Squad responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was left running while the driver briefly entered a store. Upon returning, the driver discovered the vehicle had been stolen.

With the assistance of security footage, officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect. Officers then canvassed the area in search of the vehicle, which was located in the 800 block of Waters Street. Upon arriving, officers observed the suspect, identified from the security video, fleeing the scene on foot.

A perimeter was established, and with the help of KPD's K9, Loki, the suspect was tracked to a residence on E. Caswell Street. Jerome Washington, 37, of Kinston, was arrested without further incident.

Washington was charged with Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, Larceny of Motor Vehicle, Trespassing, and Resisting Officer with Delay. He is currently being held at the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
