Jonathan Britt joins board of education after Monday evening oath
Jonathan Britt was sworn in as a new member of the Lenoir County Public Schools Board of Education during a board meeting Monday evening, joining other elected representatives responsible for district policy, budget oversight and academic standards. Britt took the oath of office before a group of school officials, educators, family members and community residents, who were in attendance for the board’s formal reorganization.
Britt thanked attendees after taking office and noted the contributions of those who supported his efforts. He also acknowledged the significance of the evening for the district’s students and staff. The statement marked his first official remarks as a board member and signaled an intention to remain engaged with families, faculty and administrators.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to serve Lenoir County Public Schools,” Britt said. “Thank you so much to everyone who attended tonight’s swearing in ceremony and to everyone who supported me on the road to this role! And, most importantly, congratulations to all the students, teachers, and principals recognized during the meeting for all your outstanding achievements!”
Leadership was also decided at the meeting with W.D. Anderson voted in as chair and Dr. Kimberly Outlaw-Starkey as vice-chair.
