The Kinston Police Department is on the lookout for individuals eager to serve and protect their community, as it announces a hiring event set to take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. The event will run from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, inviting prospective candidates to the Kinston Police Department headquarters situated at 205 E. King Street.
"Our goal is to bolster our ranks with dedicated individuals who are committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of our citizens," stated Chief of Police Keith Goyette. "We see this hiring event as an opportunity to connect with potential candidates and provide them with insights into the rewarding career path of law enforcement."
During the event, recruiters will shed light on the upcoming police officer trainee position slated for availability on April 1st of this year. Goyette emphasized the importance of being prepared for the application process, highlighting essential documents such as birth certificates, social security cards, and educational diplomas. "It's crucial for applicants to come equipped with the necessary paperwork to streamline the hiring process," he affirmed.
For those without Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification, Goyette disclosed that the department offers a pathway through which individuals can undergo training at Lenoir Community College.
"We're committed to nurturing talent within our community, but we also welcome aspiring officers from all backgrounds," he remarked. "Once hired, trainees enrolled in BLET will receive full support from the department, including financial assistance for uniforms, books, and tuition."
With 10 vacant police officer positions currently on the roster, the department is committed to filling these openings in the upcoming BLET class. Goyette expressed optimism about attracting local talent while extending the invitation to all individuals with a passion for law enforcement.
"Our aim is to build a diverse and dedicated team that reflects the vibrant fabric of our community," he affirmed.
