Scott Alston promoted to Kinston-Lenoir County Recreation Director

Scott Alston has been promoted to the position of Kinston-Lenoir County Recreation Director after 20 years of service with the City of Kinston. During his tenure, Alston has held various roles, including Recreation Superintendent and Interim Parks & Rec Director. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration and is an alumnus of North Lenoir High School, class of 1998. Alston recently achieved his 100th career win as the tennis coach at North Lenoir High School, as reported by Neuse News Sports.

Rhonda Barwick, Kinston City Manager, expressed confidence in Alston's commitment to the community, stating, "Scott is dedicated to Kinston and Lenoir County, and I look forward to his continued service to our community."

Alston hopes to build on the successes of past directors.

"I hope to continue the standards set by our previous administrations and to expand and build great programing for Kinston and all of Lenoir County,” said Alston. “I love Kinston and Lenoir County and look forward to working with our community leaders and creating great partnerships!!"

Barwick continued with other praises for Alston.

"Scott has served our community for over 20 years,” said Barwick. “His education, experience and true commitment and love of Kinston and Lenoir County is clear. While I interviewed several good candidates for the position, Scott presented the best choice for the job. I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
