Lesley Rigsby, a longstanding figure in the community, has recently taken on the role of director at EPIC, the Eastern Pregnancy Information Clinic. Rigsby brings years of experience and a deep commitment to women's health to her new position.

"I really had to pray about it because I still work two days a week at the hospital," Rigsby stated about her decision to take on the directorship role. Her dedication to both her nursing career and EPIC's mission highlights her passion for serving the community.

Rigsby's journey to EPIC began years ago, rooted in her personal experiences. "I've been a part of the pregnancy center since '09," she shared. "I just knew the Lord was leading me because they wanted to go medical." Her background as a nurse specializing in labor and delivery and newborn nursery made her transition into EPIC seamless.

EPIC, located at 304 North Queen Steet in Kinston, operates as a nonprofit organization, offering free services to individuals facing unplanned pregnancies or crises. Free services include pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and educational resources to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their pregnancies. Rigsby emphasized their commitment to meeting each person's needs, regardless of their circumstances.

"We try to meet that person where they are in their need," Rigsby explained. "We want to verify that the pregnancies [are] in the uterus, determine how far along they are, and that it's a viable pregnancy."

Rigsby's personal journey has deeply influenced her dedication to supporting others facing similar situations. "One of the main reasons that I even heard about Epic was because I have been one of our clients," she revealed. Her own experiences navigating a crisis pregnancy have driven her to advocate for comprehensive support and education.

The clinic also offers prenatal and parenting classes, along with emergency assistance and a baby boutique where clients can acquire essential items using points earned through participation in educational programs.

EPIC relies heavily on community support, with donations playing a vital role in sustaining their services. Rigsby highlighted ongoing efforts such as a diaper drive and emphasized the importance of continued support from individuals, churches, and businesses.

As Rigsby assumes her new role, she remains committed to EPIC's mission of providing compassionate care and support to individuals facing unplanned pregnancies. Her leadership promises to further strengthen the organization's impact on the community, ensuring that individuals receive the support they need during challenging times.
