Greene County Pre-K Names Teacher of the Year
Snow HIll - Greene County Pre-K Center recently named Sarah Joyner as this year’s Teacher at Greene County Pre-K. Joyner is a proud graduate of Greene Central High School and a Snow Hill native. She did her post-high school studies at the University of Mount Olive with a degree in Birth-Kindergarten Education.
Joyner shared that, “I am a Greene County girl at heart.” and that she is “BLESSED” to work in a place like the Pre-K Center. She shared that she was “so honored that my colleagues saw the hard work, dedication and the love that.”
.She shared “What I am most proud of in my years of teaching is the FUN! REWARDING! EXCITING discoveries that I created with my students. My love for children makes teaching Pre-K absolutely awesome. In my opinion, teaching pre-k is the best because you are starting the foundation with the students. The students learn their letters, numbers, colors, shapes, sorting, and all kinds of basic information that will help them enter kindergarten.”
Joyner says a “great teacher is someone who is willing to grow and develop their skills. A teacher is someone who shows patience and understanding when working with students and parents.” Joyner currently lives in Farmville with her Husband Donald. She has three wonderful children and six grandchildren. Prior to teaching, she spent 30 years as an assistant and it’s now in her 5th year of teaching.
Joyner will join the other GCS Teachers’ of the Year to compete for the title of Greene County Schools Teacher of the year which will be named in May.
